21 April 2025 @ 6:01 pm

Nearly four years after it was originally announced, Riot Games has finally shared a look at Valorant Mobile. The mobile version of the competitive shooter was developed by LightSpeed Studios and will launch in China first before coming to other countries and regions. Valorant Mobile looks like it relies on a lot of onscreen buttons, but based on a brief gameplay video, the game otherwise seems pretty similar to its PC counterpart in terms of speed and intensity. LightSpeed Studios successfully adapted PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds

21 April 2025 @ 5:32 pm

Bluesky is adopting an official verification system after all. In an update, the company said it plans to grant blue checkmarks to “authentic and notable” accounts. It will also allow some “trusted organizations" to verify users as well. The change is a notable shift for the upstart platform, which previously resisted the idea of centralized verification. Up to now, the company has relied on a domain-based verification system, which allows users to change their handles to match domains that they are associated with. But that approach was

Nintendo wants Discord to release the name, address, phone number and email address of the leaker. It said in a subpoena that the person uploaded "confidential materials not released to the public" to a Discord server called FreakLeak. After that, the leaked materials reached every nook-and-cranny of the Internet.

How to watch Bethesda reveal the Oblivion remake

21 April 2025 @ 4:58 pm

Barring a completely shocking turn of events, it seems that Microsoft and Bethesda are about to formally unveil the long-rumored remake of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion. The publisher will hold a livestream on Tuesday, April 21 at 11AM ET. You can watch it on YouTube or right here by clicking the play button on the above video when the time is right. Bethesda hasn't explicitly said what the stream is about. The YouTube video is currently titled "All will be revealed..." But the teaser image is a dead giveaway, considering the "IV" logo and the face shield that it depicts. The logo doesn't match the Diablo IV font either. So, yes, this is almost certainly the Ob

The Roblox economy is going global, as users can now set regional pricing

21 April 2025 @ 4:00 pm

Roblox has adapted its payment system to allow for regional pricing. This means that the software will automatically adjust the cost of an in-game item to match the local economy of the buyer. The company says this will make it easier for active community members to "better adapt to local market conditions and maximize earnings." Prior to this move, users in a country like Vietnam would pay the exact same price as folks here in the US. This effectively priced out users who live in countries with weaker economic conditions. Regional pricing should make international users more active in the Roblox marketplace.

Starting today, it's testing artificial intelligence tech in the US to detect whether a person is a teen — even if they've lied about their birthday to make it seem like they're an adult — and then move them to a teen account. The company says it has taken steps to make sure that the age-detection tech is accurate, but in case it makes a mistake, users that the AI suspects of being a teen have the option to change their settings and s

All Heroes And Abilities In Overwatch 2 Stadium Mode

21 April 2025 @ 11:40 pm

Overwatch 2 has introduced a new competitive multiplayer mode, Stadium, where you play a best-of-seven series of matches. This mode is drastically different from other Overwatch 2 game modes for a number of reasons. First, there is a limited pool of heroes, with only 18 to start, though more will be added in the future. Second, it's a third-person game that takes place across several rounds, each consisting of shortened matches similar to Push. Lastly, and most importantly, it has new abilities and perks you buy in between rounds, allowing you to create unique builds of your hero.As a match unfolds, you'll earn currency every round, and in between rounds, you gain access to the shop, where you can buy permanent upgrades for the rest of the match. Because of this new system, you are locked to the character

16 Games Like The Last Of Us That Will Invade Your Mind In 2025

21 April 2025 @ 8:41 pm

In a lot of ways, The Last of Us and its sequel, The Last of Us Part 2, raised the bar for storytelling in games. Set in a grounded version of, essentially, a zombie apocalypse, they relied as much on well-written, emotional interactions between characters as they did on stealth gameplay and fighting horrific monsters, crafting horror stories that are hard to forget. Those stories were so impactful that they led to an HBO TV series adaptation--its second season is airing right now.But there are a lot of games like The Last of Us that also evoke the specific and powerful elements that define it--whether it's the strong relationship between the player character and a companion, the fearful

Nintendo Switch 2 Amiibo Are Even More Expensive Than Expected

21 April 2025 @ 8:13 pm

When Nintendo announced price increases for first-party Switch 2 accessories, the upcoming slate of The Legend of Zelda and Street Fighter Amiibo were left unmentioned. At the time, many probably assumed that the seven Amiibo figures launching alongside the Switch 2 on June 5 would retain their originally announced prices. After all, those prices were already higher than we've come to expect for Amiibo. But it turns out that Amiibo figures are receiving the bi

The Best RPGs To Play In 2025

21 April 2025 @ 7:52 pm

The best RPGs can be hard to find. The long-running staple of the video game landscape is home to some of the most memorable games of all time, but by their nature, role-playing games tend to be a big time investment compared to some other genres. That's why we want to help you narrow them down and make the very best use of your gaming hours and dollars. The RPG genre is so large that there are multiple subgenres that some games can fall into depending on where they were created or their gameplay mechanics. You'll often see RPG elements pop up in games that otherwise largely fit into other genres; action-RPGs like the Diablo series have long been popular, while RPG-style character building have worked their way into shooters, action games, and numerous others. And the worlds, characters, and stories that developers create in RPGs have been turned into movie an

End of the Road: An AnandTech Farewell

30 August 2024 @ 12:00 pm

It is with great sadness that I find myself penning the hardest news post I’ve ever needed to write here at AnandTech. After over 27 years of covering the wide – and wild – world of computing hardware, today is AnandTech’s final day of publication. For better or worse, we’ve reached the end of a long journey – one that started with a review of an AMD processor, and has ended with the review of an AMD processor. It’s fittingly poetic, but it is also a testament to the fact that we’ve spent the last 27 years doing what we love, covering the chips that are the lifeblood of the computing industry. A lot of things have changed in the last quarter-century – in 1997 NVIDIA had yet to even coin the term “GPU” – and we’ve been fortunate t

The Corsair iCUE LINK TITAN 360 RX RGB AIO Cooler Review: Meticulous, But Pricey

29 August 2024 @ 5:00 pm

Corsair, a longstanding and esteemed manufacturer in the PC components industry, initially built its reputation on memory-related products. However, nearly two decades ago, Corsair began diversifying its product line. This expansion started cautiously, with a limited number of products, but quickly proved to be highly successful, propelling Corsair into the industry powerhouse it is today. One of Corsair's most triumphant product categories is all-in-one (AIO) liquid coolers. This success is particularly notable given that their initial foray into liquid cooling in 2003 did not meet expectations. However, Corsair didn’t throw in the towel. Undeterred, they re-entered the market years later, leveraging the growing popularity of user-friendly, maintenance-free AIO designs. This gamble paid off handsomely, as AIO coolers are now one of Corsair’s flagship product lines, boasting a wide array of models. In this review, we focus on the latest addition

ACEMAGIC F2A 125H SFF PC Review: Mid-Range Meteor Lake at 65W

26 August 2024 @ 12:00 pm

Intel's Meteor Lake series of processors was launched in September 2023 with a focus on mobile platforms. Multiple mini-PC vendors have utilized these processors to market offerings in the SFF / UCFF desktop market. ACEMAGIC is an Asian manufacturer with products in multiple categories including micro-PCs, UCFF (ultra-compact form-factor) and SFF (small form-factor) PCs, and notebooks. MediaTek to Add NVIDIA G-Sync Support to Monitor Scalers, Make G-Sync Displays More Accessible

20 August 2024 @ 9:30 pm

NVIDIA on Tuesday said that future monitor scalers from MediaTek will support its G-Sync technologies. NVIDIA is partnering with MediaTek to integrate its full range of G-Sync technologies into future monitors without requiring a standalone G-Sync module, which makes advanced gaming features more accessible across a broader range of displays. Traditionally, G-Sync technology relied on a dedicated G-sync module – based on an Altera FPGA – to handle syncing display refresh rates with the GPU in order to reduce screen tearing, stutter, and input lag. As a more basic solution, in 2019 NVIDIA introduced G-Sync Compatible certification and branding, which leveraged the industry-standard VESA AdaptiveSync technology to handl

Qualcomm Adds Snapdragon 7s Gen 3: Mid-Tier Snapdragon Gets Cortex-A720 Treatment

20 August 2024 @ 1:00 pm

Qualcomm this morning is taking the wraps off of a new smartphone SoC for the mid-range market, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3. The second of Qualcomm’s down-market ‘S’ tier Snapdragon 7 parts, the 7s series is functionally the entry-level tier for the Snapdragon 7 family – and really, most Qualcomm-powered handsets in North America. With three tiers of Snapdragon 7 chips, the 7s can easily be lost in the noise that comes with more powerful chips. But the latest iteration of the 7s is a bit more interesting than usual, as rather than reusing an existing die, Qualcomm has seemingly minted a whole new die for this part. As a result, the company has upgraded the 7s family to use Arm’s current Armv9 CPU
