Council Climate Action Scorecards “just help to raise awareness”

20 January 2025 @ 1:04 pm

The Council Climate Action Scorecards, a joint project between mySociety and Climate Emergency UK, have a twofold impact. On the one hand, they help people understand what their local council is doing to achieve their Net Zero targets; on the other, they help councils themselves to put their own action in context. What have we learned about APPGs?

17 December 2024 @ 10:08 am

Our first round of information requests was a mixed bag: here’s what we learned and what we’re trying next.  In mid-September we sent an information request to the 34 All Party Parliamentary Groups (APPGs) that had been the first register of APPGs since the election. As we’ve written about before, APPGs can be a source…

Follow up to problem reported last night, now with photograph, 21st January

21 January 2025 @ 8:10 pm

I reported ths last night and got the reference number 7008501. But strangely 24 hours later the report is nowhere to be found on the website. Anyway, 24 hours later the lighting is still not working. Here is a copy of my report from last night: Regarding the building site hoardings on waterloo bridge near its junction with The Strand , near the corner with Pret a Manger, opposite Sommerset House: The building site hoardings here have already considerably reduced the width of the pavament to little over 1metre in places. This causes considerable pedestrian congestion at peak times. Coupled with the fact there is still an active bus stop in this area, causes people to spill out in to the active road and oncoming traffic. On top of all of this, the temporary lighting on the hoardings is not working at the time of writing (20th January) leading to the area being pitch dark at night. All this combines to cuase a public Health and Safety issue, and an accident waiting to happen. At the very

Fault - too loud sound of traffic lights on the corners of (1) Torrington Place and Gower St and (2) Chenies Street and Gower St., 21st January

21 January 2025 @ 5:13 pm

This is in reference to four previous cases (details below), which have been marked "fixed", but have not been resolved. Nothing has changed. Camden Council has acknowledged that there is a fault in these lights (see Camden updates of 21 September and 29 October 2024), which is why they are so loud, but nothing has been fixed so far. I called Camden Council on 4 December 2024, and the person I spoke to confirmed all of the below and said that action would be taken that week. But, again, nothing has been done and nothing has changed. Therefore, as recommended by you, I am creating a new case. Thank you. (1) Case ref: 6806747. Same as below. (2) Case ref: 6669235. Same as below. (3) Case ref: 6366227. This is in reference to previous case ref: 6337958 (please see details below). On 13 August I received an email saying that "We’re pleased to let you know that your report has now been resolved" and marking this case as "fixed"

Cigarette butts, litter and green pavements, 21st January
